MDTC HOLDS BULLYING PREVENTION AWARENESS WEEK

Mid-Del Technology Center recently held their first Bullying Prevention Awareness Week November 16 – 20. According to national statistics, every day more than 160,000 children stay home from school to avoid bullying.

principal, at the Tech Center headed a student task force that developed activities for Bullying Prevention Awareness week. Events for the week included Character First curriculum concerning the issues of bullying, hazing and harassment on Monday. Tuesday, students were encouraged to go to the lobby during break time to receive their “No Bully Zone” lanyards, bookmarkers, and to sign the pledge banner to stop bullying and those that bully others. Mark Clanton, Intervention Specialist, for the Mid-Del School District was the keynote speaker in an assembly held on Wednesday. Students participated in a door decorating contest with the theme of anti-bullying on Thursday. The week concluded with students watching a pass-around video to create dialogue and discussion among the classes as to the effects of bullying.
MDTC students serving on the task force to make this week possible included: Asia Herrod, Heather Roberts, Shelby Love, Jacob Parker, Cynthia King, Kelsi Evans, Haley Ray, Casey Dornak, Andrea Sanchez, and Dylan Sherman. Other committee members included: Craig Lewis, Glenda Crabtree, Sonja Fox, Tess Elliot, Brandon Tucker, and Sam Huffman.
Mrs. Steele’s Health Careers Certification class won the morning door decorating contest and Mrs. Crabtree’s Early Care and Education won the afternoon door decorating contest.
